On The Rack – February 26th, 2014

February 25, 2014 0 By EVA

Last week I promised you a heavy week of titles for On The Rack and I will not disappoint you.

Before we get into the list of must have’s, I’m curious where people think the storylines are going in such titles as All New X-Men, and Walking Dead. If you haven’t been following, the Trial of Jean Grey has brought the return of a very important character to Scott Summers. This looks to be another story grab for Marvel as they look to spin off a Cyclops title in the near future based on events going on now in All New X-Men. Walking Dead is in the heat of All Out War, and I keep getting the feeling that we are going to see a very big death in the title and possibly the return of some forgotten characters.

Drop me a line on your insights or post up a comment at the bottom of this article!

The next issue in the Firefly series comes out this week. If you missed the first one you may still be able to find it in shops. This story picks up where the movie left off. Read Drew’s review on the first issue right here.

Wake #6 (of 10)

The wait is finally over. Scott Snyder (Batman) is finally bringing us the last half of his mini series. This title has been absolutely amazing and looks to take it up a notch in the second half of the series and go in a completely unforeseen direction.

“‘My name is Leeward, and this is where my story begins…’ Our story jumps two hundred years into a flooded future where nothing is the same. The second half of THE WAKE starts here!”

I know you Ghostbuster fans are having a tough week with the bad news, so don’t forget to pick up this weeks issue.

Gozer the Gozerian, the Destructor, was once drawn to Manhattan, but could not complete his work. That’s the good news. Judge Dredd #16

“Twelve street judges have been slaughtered by a masked maniac with a dimension-jump machine. He has the thirteenth in his gun sights right now, and the only Judge who can stop the killer – Dredd – is a billion miles away. But it’s not so much the number of dead judges in the morgue. It’s what’s going to happen to their bodies very, very soon.”

X-Files Conspiracy Transformers #1

You guessed it, another great X-Files Conspiracy issue.

“The Lone Gunmen’s trail of secrets leads them to evidence of extraterrestrial life – mechanical extraterrestrial life! Will OPTIMUS PRIME and his allies trust these human interlopers – and what secret conspiracy could involve CYBERTRON, anyway?!”

Image Comics

Black Science #4

I know we have some Black Science fans out there which are thoroughly enjoying this title. You’ll be happy to see the next issue arrives this week.

“Grant McKay and his team of Dimensionauts are given a short reprieve when the Pillar drops them not into a hellish warzone or an alien swampland but a…hotel? Just don’t trust the room service; there’s more to this place than meets the eye.”

Revenge #1

Looking for something new again? I’m always on the look out for fresh new titles with an original storyline.

“Griffin Franks was a joke in Hollywood. A washed up action-hero. Over the hill. Past it. A has-been. A barely-was. But now he IS The Revenger. He’s a star. His movie’s a hit. His latest wife is hot. He finally has everything he wants. Just in time for someone to take it all away. Forever. Starting with his face.”

Walking Dead #122

We don’t get much insight from the synopsis and that’s okay because I know we will all be picking it up anyways.

“‘ALL OUT WAR,’ Part Eight: Negan has a plan.”

Marvel Comics

Fantastic Four #1

Welcome to the rebirth of a Fantastic Four title. Again. Be sure to pick this up if you are heading to Toronto Comicon in March; you can get this one signed by Leonard Kirk himself.

The world’s greatest comics magazine begins anew with Marvel’s First Family, the Fantastic Four! But as the brilliant MR. FANTASTIC, the compassionate INVISIBLE WOMAN, the ever lovin’ THING & the hot-headed HUMAN TORCH embark on a strange mission, they aren’t met with new beginnings, but an untimely end! As the family of cosmic explorers head towards their darkest hour, who could possibly be behind their downfall? And how is one of their oldest enemies, the sadistic dragon known as Fing-Fang-Foom involved? Prepare for the fantastic!”

Guardians of the Galaxy #12

Now that we have all seen the Guardians movie trailer, I’m sure you’re all a little more interested in them. The next installment of the Trial of Jean Grey takes place here.

“THE TRIAL OF JEAN GREY” PART 4!

A surprise ally from one character’s past comes to help, but is that enough against the most powerful army in the Universe?”

Origin II #3 (of 5)

This Wolverine sequel to Origin has been very good so far and should really start to take off in this issue.

If you want to see people standing around talking, read another comic. Want to see heroes having a fist fight, go somewhere else? You are IN the GOBLIN NATION and this is ALL-OUT WAR!”

wolverine2Wolverine #2

Even Spidey fans will be picking this one up once they see the cover. Wolverine #2 is hitting the shelves this week and it looks promising.

“WOLVERINE NO MORE? After the events of KILLABLE, Wolverine has something to prove. Before he can take on Sabretooth again, he’ll need to build himself back up, get better and stronger than he’s ever been… but it’s not as easy as he thought, and he’ll soon find himself turning to other means of revenge when the normal channels don’t seem to be working fast enough. Can he fight back his demons, or is this the beginning of a Wolverine who’s gone to the dark side?”

Wolverine and the X-Men #42

Here comes another title wrapping up with a final issue. Based on Marvel’s current campaign of Marvel NOW relaunches, I can almost guarantee this one will be relaunched in no time at all. Be sure to grab the final issue of volume 1.

“SCHOOL’S OUT FOREVER! FINAL ISSUES! It’s the end of the year for the Jean Grey school – but where do our graduates go from here? And who will have survived the experience?! Jason Aaron, Pepe Larraz & Nick Bradshaw bring the story of the Jean Grey school to a close!”

I told you this week was going to be a heavy week of titles, and I didn’t even get to them all. Next week will be just as great with all the restarting Marvel titles, new titles coming out and all the things you’ve been waiting to get your hands on.
