Felicia Day and Steven Yuen to Voice “Chew”
April 23, 2014
Animated feature to be directed by Jeff Krelitz.
Just days ago we spoke to Rob Guillory, the artist behind Chew, who told us we would have to wait a couple days for the big reveal of some of the voice actors for the animated feature of the graphic novel. Now, we have our news: The Walking Dead star Steven Yuen will be voicing Detective Tony Chu and The Guild star, Felicia Day, will be voicing Amelia Mintz who is a food critic.
The quirky and unique comic has been in production since 2009 with the writing being done by John Layman and the artwork by Rob Guillory. We spoke to Guillory about the rumor of a live-action TV series, but it seems the animated feature will be the way they are leaning now in order to keep the original storyline in tact.
The animated feature is being directed and produced by Jeff Krelitz. There are five other producers also working on the project including David and Scott Boxenbaum, Dan Tischler, John Layman and Rob Guillory. The film does not yet have a release date.
Tony Chu is a detective with a secret. A weird secret. Tony Chu is Cibopathic, which means he gets psychic impressions from whatever he eats. It also means he’s a hell of a detective, as long as he doesn’t mind nibbling on the corpse of a murder victim to figure out whodunit, and why. He’s been brought on by the Special Crimes Division of the FDA, the most powerful law enforcement agency on the planet, to investigate their strangest, sickest, and most bizarre cases.
